Laura G Gerber is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who uses a cognitive behavioral approach to treating long standing personality disorders as well as other more acute disorders. Laura uses a strengths based non pathological approach to treatment breaking down issues into manageable goals. Laura believes in a strong client centered therapeutic relationship to move individuals toward their goals for a healthy and fulfilling life. The client is the driver of the therapy and has the most information as to how and what therapy should look like. Treatment is individualized, recovery and strengths based. Laura incorporates some relaxation, stress management, or guided imagery into sessions to assist individuals in feeling comfortable to experience their feelings and find solutions to the issues that keep them awake at night. With six years of experience in community mental health and crisis work she is able to quickly assess situations and help individuals make immediate plans to get through the day until more structured treatment goals can be established. Laura graduated with a BA in general psychology from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, a MA in clinical psychology from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois, and has completed her PhD in clinical psychology from Walden University in Baltimore, Maryland and Minneapolis, Minnesota.
