Urban Balance welcomes new student intern, Silvija Barisic!
Silvija Barisic is a third year graduate student at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology pursuing a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in the treatment of addiction disorders. Silvija received her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Novi Sad in Serbia. While practicing at the Trauma Center in Serbia, Silvija gained extensive experience working with individuals with depression, anxiety, PTSD and adjustment disorders. Through her international exposure, Silvija enhanced her cultural awareness and sensitivity. Therefore, she tailors her clinical approach in accordance with the clients’ unique needs. She uses motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, narrative therapy and client-centered approaches with her clients. Since coming to the U.S., Silvija has broadened her clinical interests to include treatment of addictions, career counseling and family counseling. She strongly believes that individuals have to be separated from their problems in order to open space for new and more constrictive views of themselves. Besides English, Silvija is fluent in Serbian, Bosnian and Croatian.
