Ben has already started providing therapy for individuals, couples and families out of UB's Evanston and downtown Chicago counseling offices. UB is proud to provide Ben with clinical experience, consultation, mentoring, and individual and group consultation. Ben will also have the opportunity to co-facilitate a group or workshop and to help with a variety of UB events and projects.
Ben will be under the supervision of UB Co-Owner, Joyce Marter, LCPC. Joyce has previous experience supervising Northwestern masters students as a "Back Home" supervisor. UB is excited about giving back to the therapeutic and the North Shore community, and we hope to host more students from area schools in the future.
Ben Heinrichs is a second year student in the Masters of Counseling Psychology Program at Northwestern University. Before attending graduate school, Ben spent two years working as a dormitory counselor for adolescents with severe emotional disorders at the Sonia Shankman Orthogenic School at the University of Chicago. Ben interned at Dominican University last year and expanded his experience working with young adults. During this time, Ben specialized in stress management, learning and improving social skills, and life skill development. He is excited about being at UB and eager to work with adults of all ages and backgrounds. His training focuses on psychodynamic and relational approaches, but he also likes to incorporate aspects of cognitive-behavioral therapy. Before moving to Chicago, Ben graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Iowa State University. During this time Ben worked as a respite provider and a supported community living provider for both children and adults, as well as a camp counselor for children and adolescents.
UB is pleased to offer clients who are under financial stress affordable therapy with Ben Heinrichs for as low as $45 per session. For more information, please contact UB's Intake Coordinator at 888-726-7170 or
